indesign album templates + instructional videos03.03.09

With all the interest recently in using InDesign to design albums we decided to check it out … and after creating our first album in InDesign we haven’t looked back! Indesign has easily cut our album design time in half … literally! Being a graphic designer by education I was familiar with Indesign and decided to go ahead and create templates for other photographers who didn’t want to take the hours of time it takes to design the templates. So I went through all the template designs out there and chose what I felt to be the top 65 spread designs (if you are like me, you would rather have 65 awesome designs than having to wade through 500 to find the top 30 you use for the album) and re-created those designs in three different formats: square – 8×8, 10×10, 12×12, 14×14 (three sets: white page w/ black strokes, black page w/ white strokes, and white pages w/ no strokes) vertical – 8×10, 9×12, 10×15, 11×14 (three sets: white page w/ black strokes, black page w/ white strokes, and white pages w/ no strokes) horizontal – 10×8, 12×9, 14×11, 15×10 (three sets: white page w/ black strokes, black page w/ white strokes, and white pages w/ no strokes) I also created videos that show you how to use InDesign … not only to be able to best utilize the templates but also how to customize the templates, create your own, etc. I have made them available on our website: www.benharrisonphotography.com … just click on “photographers resources” and you can see the sweet goodness!!! here are a few samples of the InDesign Templates with our fab imagery:

These templates look AMAZING !!! One quick question though…do you have to have InDesign to use them ??? I don’t have it, but I would love to use the templates.

    • ben says:

hey kim, yes, the templates are designed for use with indesign and not photoshop … because indesign is a page layout program and because of this it saves you a lot of time over working in photoshop … thanks for the compliments though!
